2017 Mercury 25HP EFI 4 Stroke dies while shifting when warm

Hey guys, I’ve got a motor on a work boat that has been a thorn in my side. It’s a 2017 Mercury 25HP EFI 4 Stroke that was purchased from a Mercury dealer out of state and has not ran consistently since purchase, I have been stranded three times. It starts great and runs well when cold, but once it’s ran for around 10 minutes it will frequently die when shifting into or out of neutral.

The boat has always required extra careful throttle inputs to keep the motor running as the motor RPMs drop below idle when shifting into and out of gear. The boat runs and shifts well when cold and can handle pivot turns and tricky maneuvers, but once warmed up the engine will die just shifting to neutral. Once it’s died you get maybe 2 restarts before it won’t start and you smell fuel. You can use starting fluid to start in a pinch but I hate to do that more than once. The boat runs smooth at medium and high speed.

Multiple mechanics and professional shops have looked at it, one replaced the IACV and another installed a larger battery. Neither has impacted the issue. I’ve changed spark plugs, fresh fuel, fuel tank vents are open… any help is appreciated!
