THROTTLE LEVER SPRING.jpgTHIS IS REALLY MAKING ME FEEL STUPID BUT THIS SPRING FELL OFF OUT MY CARBURETORS AND i CANNOT REMEMBER HOW IT GOES BACK ON. ANY ADVICE ON HOW THIS SPRING GOES ON WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THE FIRST ATTACHED PICTURE IS THE SPRING AND THE SECOND AND THIRD PICTURES ARE CIRCLED IN THE GENERAL LOCATION WHERE THE THROTTLE SPRING GOES.

I WAS REPLACING THE SPRING ON THE CHOKE PLUNGER AND THIS SPRING FELL OFF.

I WILL ADD A POST BELOW OF A VIDEO OF HOW IT IS RUNNING NOW. DO YOU THINK THE WAY IT IS RUNNING IS RELATED TO THIS SPRING BEING INSTALLED INCORRECTLY OR IS IT ANOTHER ISSUE? THIS IS THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS MOTOR. IT RAN GREAT ALL LAST SUMMER.

IT IS A 1981 JOHNSON 50 HP SEAHORSE MODEL J50BELCIC WITH GREAT COMPRESSION!download.jpgTHROTTLE LINKAGE.jpgTHROTTLE LINK.jpg

I am pretty sure your right but I am still having trouble knowing exactly where is goes. does it wrap around the linkage. I believe control rod goes over the circle in the spring. This boat ran perfect all last summer and all of a sudden I am having trouble. Watch this video and look at what it is doing now.

By the way, thank you very much for responding. I am new to forums and was hoping there are some good people out there like yourself willing to take a few minutes to help someone else. Much appreciated!

Thanks racerone for your response. from your response I was able to make sense of it and I also found a picture online that will hopefully help someone else who has the same issue.50HP_CHOKESPRING1a.jpg

Hey I am wondering if you could help me out I have the same issue and the top spring was out of place on the manual choke that was easy and now I am having trouble finding how this same spring attaches both the throttle and choke linkage as the motor will run fin for the first hour then after it’s warmed up when trying to put it in gear it staves itself and shuts down
