PROP SEALS ON T25 4 STROKE, plus case collar not letting go.

There is a separate casting just before the prop on my lower unit, presumably to facilitate removing the prop seals for replacement. I pulled the two bolts and got it to move a tiny tiny bit left and right by tapping on it. It really does NOT want to go anywhere, especially out and off the shaft. If I hit it any harder I'll mangle or break it. If I just put the bolts back in and pull the seals out the ugly way, I'm concerned about scratching the shaft. It gerts worse too: someone before me managed to just slightly crack the main case, so I was thinking of pulling this and having a buddy tigweld it up, but if I can't get the collar off, that's not an option. What would you do?

A T25TLRC would be a 2004 model year motor.

The thing you are referring to is the bearing carrier. Aka propeller shaft housing assembly. It takes considerable force to extract it from the lower unit housing. Using a tool.

Got it, and thank you! Here's a pretty pivotal couple of questions: I have the seals out, I polished the shaft nicely, I think we'll be okay. BUT: the first steel collar on the prop shaft behind the seals is NOT turning with the shaft. Is that a bearing inner race, or just a stationary bushing? Because if it should be turning, then yeah I sure do need to pull that bearing housing to replace that frozen unit before it chews my shaft to junk. If it's a bushing, then I'm okay. AND! do you think they still sell that bearing/seal housing, because the material where the seals go in is fairly corroded away. Not fatally yet, but it's on its way. I wouldnt mind swapping in a new/good one, if dealers have em.
