Gas leak somewhere

I started the 1978 Johnson 25 hp in a test tank yesterday and it started right up ( surprise), ran for about a minute or two, stalled and would start again. I’m thinking spark. However before I went to get my spark tester, I noticed gas in the bottom cowling of the motor. As I squeeze the primer bulb I see more gas in the cowling but I can’t see where it is coming from. Looking for best ideas before pulling the carburetor. Thanks,
Walt

Lots of possibilities. You'll need someone to squeeze the primer bulb while you look for the source.
1) Cracked hose
2) Cracked fuel pump housing
3) Bad fuel pump diaphragm or gasket
4) Carb float not closing.

I keep one of those little plastic tanks from a lawnmower. It’s attached basically to a stick with a clamp on one end.
Attach it anywhere above the motor, so it gravity feeds into the carburetter. If the motor starts and runs fine, then you know, leave the carb alone and look at your fuel pump and hoses.
Takes only a couple of minutes and cost zero beer tokens.
