Batteries are both new and fully charged. After changing battery, tried again, starter gear rose once, made a loud noise, then nothing. Now the key switch is dead as wellHistory on this issue?----Charge the battery and load test the battery.
For the Bendix to operate properly.....slam itself into the ring gear, it takes amperes in the starter. Too few and there isn't enough energy available to get the Bendix up and into the ring gear. Other problem could be a dirty starter shaft.....other problem could be bad connections.......other problem could be a low current battery due to sulfate buildup or just in need of a good charge........finally if all that fails, get out your CC and get ready for a shocker in the cost of a new starter. My starter spins but won't engage flywheel, is this the starter? Can it be DIY repaired?
