2014 115hp Mercury Marine Outboard - Gearcase filled with water, no oil

While getting ready to launch the boat, I changed the gearcase oil. Only water came out! I filled it with the recommended gearcase oil. The boat worked fine at the end of last year before taking it out for the winter.

It's the first time I performed work on the engine. It was previously serviced only by an authorized Merc dealer.

Should I run the engine at WoT for 10 mins and then check if there is water in gearcase again? If there is, does this need to go to a dealer for repair?

Also, I have "muffs" for the engine, can I run it at WoT with the muffs on and hose on full??

Take the gearcase apart NOW for inspection.----Install a seal kit if internals / gears / bearings are still in good shape.-----This could be an expensive caper.

Ok, I've watched a bunch of videos which go through the replacement of the drive shaft, prop shaft and shift shaft seals on various Mercury outboards. The closest to my model was the 2020 115hp XS Pro. Unfortunately, I could not find a video related to my motor which is a 2014 115hp EFI 2.07:1 4S Mercury marine motor.

Is there a repair manual, or do you have a link to a video showing how to replace the lower end seals for the 2014 115hp EFI 2.07:1 4S Mercury marine motor?

I will take the lower unit out, and pressure test it to see which seal(s) is/are leaking. Does that sound right?
