I have a pair of 6.0 2012 engine. I mistakenly put RM0278 head gasket which is for 2014 to current models. The correct part is RM0298 do i need to change the gaskets or will it cause problems

I would say you are probably ok.

To be sure, I would suggest calling Crusaders tech support and ask them what the differences are...you won't get much detail from just using the part numbers..

I did this exact same thing (but in reverse) and had an overheating problem. I replaced with the correct gasket and there was no change. There is a VERY small difference in overall thickness and cylinder size. My mechanic contacted some people more familiar with the many generations of the 6.0 and they said we SHOULD switch it so we did. However, I have no evidence it ever caused a problem because the overheating problem never went away and I dont know that they were actually related.

Run it and if it works fine, I would probably leave it but always look for any issues, particularly with running hot.
