HELP!! Mercruiser 5.0MPI Fueling Issue

Hoping someone has an idea….Motor is a 2006 5.0mpi w/ Alpha. Boat starts and runs fine from cold. Will run all day without a hiccup! THEN….if I shut the engine down after it is fully at temp it will not restart. If I wait till it is completely cool it will start and run fine just as before.

Thought maybe a weak fuel pump in the cool fuel 1 system. Replaced that and have zero improvement. Seems like it is vapor locking. Sometimes will start and sputter for 2-3 seconds before stalling. Was going to dig back in and replace the regulator in the cool fuel system.

Anyone with any ideas I’d be eternally grateful! This will be my second season chasing this problem!!!

THANKS!

What is the engine serail number, plus could you provide/post a photo of the port side engine front to back side of the cooling system?

Sometimes when vapor lock symptoms occur with these models there may be a failing water check valve allowing hot water to flow down the fuel cooler getting it warm and hard to start until cooled again. Might be worth getting a temp reader gun and keeping an overall eye on the water temp at the cooler area to see if big changes area happening down there...The following are of two different designs to take note of either item number 13 or number 2 being the check valve,

Post edited of inputting the engine serial number to obtain the correct parts catalog above...

Thanks for your reply!!

Engine serial number is 0W376440

I have the single point drain system

I have a temp gun already so that is a great suggestion, first time I have heard of this!

Having the serial number i edited my post above with the correct parts catalog to your engine.

Should you discover the area getting warm then the following is of a check valve you could put in place to see if it helps.
