Mercury OEM parts are hard to find and back ordered .
Some of the reviews for Sierra on Amazon are pretty bad.
But the dealer says he uses Sierra Dist Caps all the time and no problem
What is the consensus? Sierra also much cheaper of course.

a "350 MAG MPI" could have had at least three different styles of distributors....

If its the newer HVS type (a crab cap), I'd go with a Mercruiser OEM cap or a GM part.

If its the EST type, you may get away with either.

If its the older T-bolt type, I'd go with a Mercruiser OEM cap...if you can get aftermarket with brass terminals, they can be ok...

Its 2005 - crab type. GM/NAPA does not have brass studs so statying away from them,

Only OEM parts for the 3 years you use them, and during the 3 years, buy your next tune-up set & plug wires too.with NGK plugs. Replace the throat muffler. Buy a spare OEM IAC and that 30A (?) fuse located at the starter. Grease the spline (can only get to one side), and the gimble bearing via the fitting (see manual- 10 pumps). Have a spare OEM engine/outdrive change ready and filters. Get spare outdrive drian plugs and plenty of ring gaskets. Clean the sludge inside of the monitor with a rag next change. Replace the trim up/down solenoids. Buy an OEM coil when you have the money and remove and replace. Odyssey batteries and install the Blue sea ACR,

SW maintenance different (horizon) and I left the SW for the easy maintenance FW. Makes boating a pleasure. Good Luck.

If there is a vent hole, it should have the flame suppression screen in it...I believe Mercruiser had a service bulletin on the topic years back...

Ayuh,..... Either a metal screen, or a brass elbow,.....

Distributors have to be vented,....
