df150 hp susuki outboard engine. engine runs great starts right up. after running for a while pulling off the throttle the engine dies. it takes a while for the engine to start back up. any suggestions?

So you don’t have a Suzuki tachometer like the one below?
The engine generates codes and displays them through the tachometer.

Maybe your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is acting up? If the IAC is acting up you should be experiencing rough idling at startup and rough idle or stalling when pulling the throttle back to idle. You should have gotten a code if it is acting up assuming you have a Suzuki tachometer that is working. With the larger Suzuki’s apparently you can remove and clean them. Once removed there is a procedure to set the idle. I have a 90hp with no procedure given in my service manual on how to set them correctly so I can’t help you with that.

What year is your engine? How many hours? Freshwater or salt? What maintenance has been done on it? Does your engine have a caution system tachometer and does it function?

Selffixer. com have genuine Suzuki service manuals for older engines for $12(pdf) if you can find one that suits your engine. Well worth the money!
