    Mercruiser 228 remote oil filter valve

    "I have a 1981 mercruiser 228 "I have a 1981 mercruiser 228 with a remote oil filter. The valve that bolts into the block (where the oil filter used to go, part no 54785) is cracked. The part is NOL. Can I just remove the valve and use a filter with a built in valve, what to do?"
