Thank you for the reply. I will take a look at the O2 sensor values while the engine is running. A valve adjustment job is planned for this winter. So far I am happy with the engine. It is a 2008 engine with 1050 hours on it. I had it for 9 years and it has been good to me.

Thanks. I have cleaned the screen on the IAC valve and the fire screen in the air intake box. The issue must be engine temperature related. I can rev up the engine and let it idle at high RPM (> 1500) for a while. Then the engine won't "stall" after that. I will hook up my diagnostic tool...

RPM, speed and fuel consumption question for BF225

Well, the war is not over. I am still having some issues. See my other thread. This time it won't keep me from fishing. I am using GPS to measure speed. No change in hull condition. I did not pay attention to see if there is any change in WOT speed. On my recent trip, my RPM and speed are...

I thought the war is over. However, the other side won't give up so easily. I am still have some issues. The engine starts fine and run for 20 - 30 seconds at about 1000 RPM. Then the RPM will come down and engine dies. I can hit the gear disengage switch and ramp up the engine. It will...

RPM, speed and fuel consumption question for BF225

My boat is back into the water and running smoothly. I am a happy camper. Hopefully new issue won't come up soon. The fun of owning a boat. Here is something that puzzle me. Before my problem, I normally cruise about 4200RPM at about 20 knots. WOT RPM is 5500 RPM. In the last month to fix...

Just for reference. Here is a way to do a complete vinegar flush of my engine. Here are the parts you need. You can get them at home depot and Costco. - 4 gallon of vinegar (4 Monks brand) from Costco. I dilute my solution 5 parts of water to 1 part of vinegar. - a big container. You can...

Good news. Boat is back in water. It is idling well. However, it is very hard to shift. It turned out the engine is idling too high at 1100RPM. I adjusted the throttle cable and got the RPM down to 800RPM. Now it is shifting smoothly. Hopefully this war is over.

Thank you Don. Now, at least I know I am not talking to myself. The bolts are 8x40 and 8x60. The way to install the manifold and the gasket will make putting sealant around the exhaust holes almost impossible. The gasket is of coated metal material.

Is there anyone else seeing this thread? It looks like I just been talking to myself which is very unusual on this forum.

The metal gasket behind the manifold prevents water gets into the exhaust chamber. I would think the water tight function of this gasket is critical. What is the torque spec for the 8 bolts and what is the pattern to tighten the bolts. I could not find that information. Also do you need to...

I also won another battle with my lower unit. I tied a rope around my lower unit and hang 2 50lb concrete anchors off it. Spray with PB blaster and bang on the case with a dead blow especially when you are frustrated. After a few days, I finally won the battle. I cleaned the IAC valve and...

Running issue with 2008 BF225 with 1000 hours.

Just for reference. Here is what I did to get the manifold back in place. First I cleaned up the base really well with a wire wheel/brush on a drill. Got rid of of all old corrosion. I put in some gasket material in the grove and the outside ridge of the exhaust "ring". Made a note where...

Just realized there is a search feature on this board. Found the following threads that are very helpful. https://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/threads/install-manifolds-need-help.444756/ https://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/threads/bf225-internal-anodes.435490/...

I decided it is too much risk to take off the engine mount to just replace the exhaust seal guide. I am going to see if I can push a new exhaust seal guide down from the top. Any advice on how to do this?

Well one step forward and a few steps back. Here is my progress. Got the gasket and anode for the exhaust manifold. Luckily I have a Honda dealer within 15 minutes drive and they have parts in stock. Found out the mystery part (black/organe) is a check value. The tube is supposed to be...
