    So I can wiggle the flywheel while it's in neutral while tightening to get the last eighth inch? I tried tapping it in before and the prop got tight and didn't want to rotate.

    1989 80 hp mercury. I replaced the shift shaft seal and shaft won't line up

    I have a 89 mercury 70 hp and left it in neutral when I removed the prop shaft carrier. It reinstalled but is a fat eighth of an Inch from seating fully. I guess guess the motor was supposed to be in forward gear. Can I just put it in forward now to snug it up?
