    I got the book on it today. It shows adding #2 Permatex where the drive shaft goes into the powerhead. If that has dried up could it be sucking air through there?It would explain why it takes so much throttle to get the air fuel mixture right for it to run. I can't post a pic of what the book...

    The spark is nice and blue and will jump 3/8" on the tester. I replaced the impeller a month ago. Pulled the exhaust tube and cleaned it. Put in new Boysen reeds, checked that they seat properly. I also installed a new flywheel key. This motor is new to me so I don't know the history of it's usage.

    Thanks for the replies. The idle air adjustment is out 2 turns. The idle adjustment knob is about a 1/2" away from the arm that it is supposed to touch when the engine is running at idle speed.
