    Compression is at 140 for both cylinders. I took the lower unit off. Still won’t power through the compression stroke.

    I’ve got high commpresion numbers. At the moment I can think of them but I pull both plugs out and it turns over great. I put one plug in and it struggles. I will remove the lower unit and see what happens. I’ll keep you updated

    I’m having a hard time trying to get my 1965 west bend 45hp outboard to start. My starter is barely able to turn the engine over and once it hits the compression stroke it struggles. I currently have a new replacement starter that replaced the prestolite starter than was on it when I got it...

    Hello! I have a Johnson 48hp spl outboard, the model number is j48eslenb. I need to change the gear oil in the lower unit and I’m unsure what kind of oil to use. All help is appreciated. Thanks!
