Wonder if someone can tell me the purpose of these 2x “valve, pressure relief” (#101 in diagram) in my 1977 70hp Johnno.
If I was to hazard a guess, perhaps they’re to relieve excess water jacket pressure if the thermostat will not open????

recently purchased gearbox bearing carrier shaft seals to suit 1982 70hp evinrude and they appear to be too small.
current seal ~41mm OD and ~ 29mm on ID and new seals part #321467~ 35mm OD and 24mm on ID.
Hopefully image attached tells the story.
any thoughts on the mystery??

I have a J6RCIC engine serial number A672898 and I can’t see this model number in the marine engine model finder. Need to order parts not sure which model # to use……

Weirdest thing. I am blowing the 20amp fuse near the starter solenoid everytime I crank the engine for 2 seconds. Cranking obviously then stops when the fuse blows. Fuse is ok with ignition on or off and with choke active. Fuse does not blow instant I start to crank, but blows after 2...

i have a johnson with plate 70ETL78C that does not register as a legitimate model number.....
It has a cracked gearbox that i am looking to replace with an envinrude E70TLCNB. Will the Envirude gearbox be suitable?

trying to bring a pride albatross back to life :). all going well except the 70hp johnson has some significant cracks in the gearbox casing. Rumour has is it that these motors can be run with some gearbox casing cracks without too many issues. Any comments would be muchly...
