    Mercruiser 5.7 overheating above 1200 RPM

    I have twin 1988 mercruiser 5.7's and the port engine runs hot if I run it above 1200 RPM. I replaced drive water pump, engine circulating pump and thermostat and confirmed elevated temperature with infrared gun. I did notice the seats for the 'poppet' balls are in bad shape.
