    1986 Evinrude 70hp - been sitting for 30 years

    Ok.. maybe that’s part of the issue. I can’t seem to put it in gear. I’m able to bottom out the shifter, assuming this is reverse? And I think pull it into neutral as it clicks when I pull up on the shifter. Does pulling up on the shift link go from reverse - neutral - forward?

    Ok, started taking apart the lower unit. So far was going smooth - but I’m stuck now. I can’t seem to get the pinion gear out. I’ve tried almost everything and can’t seem to fit it between the drive shaft and housing. Any ideas?
