    thrown out of gear at a high rate of speed

    1967 9.5hp evinrude. I have it torn apart and after inspection. I have found that the front bearing is in an oblong shape. Shifter is worn on forward portion. Now like I stated before motor would jump out of gear with high rate of speed. Could these two items cause my grieve? Thank you
