    15 hp 2001 mercury shift rod

    I'm trying to replace my water pump impellor but I can't figure out how to release the shift rod so I can get the lower unit off. Can anyone provide guidance? I have a 2001 Mercury 15M, Serial Number OT224617. The shift rod appears to be one piece and I can't see any way to disconect it on...
