    I have a 1996 Mercruiser 5.7 that is making a pump/electric motor sound after engine shutdown

    What could the sound be? It comes from the bottom rear of the engine. Note: the boat had some water lilies in the prop and we trimmed up, shutdown and cleared them but now the humming sound persists until we disconnect the battery at the kill switch.
