    1996 mercruiser 4.3 lx. NO BLUE & WHITE WIRE TO GROUND FOR TIMEING

    1996 mercruiser 4.3 lx. I am trying to set the timing. The manual says to ground a "Blue and White" wire to the engine. There is no blue and white wire. There is only a purple that is not connected to any thing. I tried grounding that, but it sparked and blew a fuse.
