    1389 8490 mercarb throttle pump return spring?

    This 1984 mercarb has a check ball in the bottom of the carburetor fuel pump bore. Do I need a return spring? The only I'd # for the boat I can find is stamped on the starter side of the block #4097080. 265. 93. Gm this is a 2003 V.P. 180 freedom hull. Any advice is appreciated?
