Hey Chawk, Thanks so much for your detailed advice on how to proceed. I too am a BF225 owner and I've been doing most of my own work for 20 years. I am currently in the Florida Keys, someone else's boat, so I will get back to my problem when I get home. Thanks again for the help.
Thanks for the feedback Chawk_man. The primer bulb was one of the first things I checked. I have tried running with the gas cap open, suspecting clogged vent. When we pump fuel through the LP with the primer bulb it flows freely. Running a clear tube as suggested is a good idea, I'll pick...
I've had my 225 for 20 years and I'm familiar with the fuel system but I'm stumped . I checked the evaporator, replaced all filters and checked both fuel pumps. On the water it runs up to 5500 rpm but after a few minutes it begins to slow and eventually stays around 4000 to 4500 rpm. After...
I replaced the trigger in my 97, 200 EFI and it runs OK except it misses at high RPM. Like over 4500 rpm. I think I need to adjust the trigger? Not sure how to set it correctly? Any advice or is the a good manual I can get on line? Thanks
Hey CHawk_man, I just want to thank you again for the link to the Helm shop manual. It gave me everything I need to repair and maintain my old Honda 225. It has been on the back of my 88 Chris Craft SeaHawk for 20 years but only has 791 total hours.
You are so right about that worthless...
CHawk_man, Thank you for all this information. I think I can take it from here. I expect the fuse will blow again if I don't get to the cause. I love the trouble shooting diagram system in the manual. Thanks again. RJHiler
deanno33, I had the same problem with my 225 several years ago. Turned out it was running to cold and fuel was getting past the rings. Replaced the thermostats and problem went away. Hope this helps. RJ.
I have an aging BF225, approx 1000 hrs, that shut down on me about 12 miles offshore. Turned out to be the #5 fuse on port side of motor near the starter. Can anyone tell me what the 6 fuses on my motor are protecting. I have the owners manual and the latest SELOC manual but can't find this...
