    Johnson 25RL75B Thermostat water port plug

    I am restoring a Johnson 25RL75B tiller outboard. It's a 1975. While replacing the thermostat I found a rubber plug in one of the water passages. It is not shown in the parts schematic. Is this required? Has anyone ever seen this?
