This engine runs fine when primed with gas, but as soon as it's used up, it stalls and a no-start condition ensues.
I'm assuming it's the fuel pump assembly, but could use some help. Any other possibility causes or things to consider first?

This is what's on the intake. I couldn't find any obvious casting marks on the block.
Someone entered into this project and suggested that it might actually be a 302.
1978 Ski Nautique 351c, hydro-locked with cracked heads and who-knows what else.
Had two choices: $4,600 for a new engine or watch it rot in a field.
Then, we found a way out. 351w from a Mustang and perfect for a rebuild. This thread will be about rebuilding and marinizing the engine...
78 Ski Nautigue. Engine failure this summer so we're planning a rebuild pending a good result with the magnaflux. If we do need a new engine, can I source any block or is a marine block itself fundamentally different?
