    Yep, I'm a frenchie... but by default, it's oil injected, no? I'm very much used to mixing, as I ran my old 70 hp Johnson for many years but this boat is for my niece so I just want to teach her to keep an eye on the oil tank level.

    Hey one question that I haven't been able to find a consistent answer on: What's "good" for compression test results? I'm seeing wildly varying answers between 95 and 120. And does the answer vary by year, generation etc?

    Thanks for the tips gents. In searching ads since I posted my question, I have noticed that roughly 75% of all ads I'm seeing have a 90 HP Merc two stroke, which certainly tends to suggest that everyone buys them because they're solid / dependable.

Is there a thread out here that describes things to check before buying an older 90 hp 2 stroke Mercury? My niece wants a boat for her cottage.
