    Thanks, but I'm not trying to fix the motor. It's gone. The leakage test was performed at a shop. After that I sold the lower unit and the tilt trim parts. I'll have to look into the throttle and steering specs of the replacement motor. Thanks.

    More information: Looks like both red wires go to the solenoid. Will try this next. When I said the motor doesn't start, I mean it doesn't turn over or make a sound. The trim doesn't have power either. I'm using an AGM battery which sounds like it could be a problem in the long run.

    No noises. It just goes from running fine to decelerating very quickly to a stop. This is a nightmare... What also made me question the oil was the lack of smoke when idling. It was always pretty smoky.

    I'm sure I found the problem. I noticed that the site glass tube showed a light colored oil instead of the normally black oil. Sure enough I found the oil container and said for 2 Stroke engines instead of 4 Stroke. I'll siphon it out and fill with the correct oil. That should fix it. Thanks...

    I replaced the thermostat and the water throughput was greatly increased, but the motor still stopped after about15 minutes. I noticed the battery connection was loose and fixed that. That may not have had any affect, but I went fishing after that and it didn't die. It wasn't a good test...
