I figured it out. The key on the impeller shaft was stripped. So I installed the plastic key back on and it works great. Engine is running awesome. Thank you for all the info and help!
The key was broke. I got it to start. Now my problem is I’m not getting water out of the tell tale. I disconnected the hoses from the thermostat and I’m not getting water anywhere. I can’t figure it out. Any suggestions?
I have a few questions for you regarding a 1994 Johnson 90hp v4 that I purchased. I can’t get it running. The flywheel tdc is almost halfway away from the tdc marker on the engine when cylinder one is at tdc. Did I shear a flywheel key?

It was the orfice plug. I ordered on and it was $50! Hopefully everything goes ok when I get everything put together. I’ll keep you informed. Thanks for all your information. It was very helpful!
It was an orfice screw that was missing. The marina guys noticed when they were diagnosing it. I ordered the carb kits and that screw. I’ll let you know how it goes when I receive the parts. Thanks for your help!
