    lower unit

    My 1986 75 hp mercury outboard's lower unit is disconnect from the drive shaft housing, the lower unit is in foward gear, how can I shift to neutral, or reverse, can I shift back and forth while the lower unit is disconnected form the drive shaft hosing thanks melroy
