    Sealed off Exhaust Ports 1979 Evinrude 235

    Hi All I have purchase a boat with a 1979 Evinrude 235 and noticed that the exhaust ports on the side have been sealed off with plates and silicon/screws so that all he exhaust is routed through the prop. Does anyone know why someone would do this? Would it be contributing to an overheating...
