Would a missing thrust washer (item 50) cause excessive wear on the prop hub? This motor was missing that washer when I bought it....I have one on order with the prop.

It definitely has a pressed rubber hub. This has GOT to be the problem. 🤞

I found a nice Michigan Match 10 1/2 x 12 RH prop on ebay for $70. I think you're right. 🤦‍♂️. Makes the most sense since there is no "bang" or "thud" which would definitely be the case of metal on metal slipping were happening. Plus, I've replaced damn near the entire gear set! Lol! New prop...

It's possible...... I'll pull it off and take another look. 👌 if this is the case, I'm assuming I just need a new prop, right?

The pin shown in the screenshot goes through the prop and through the shaft.....no way for the prop to spin without shearing that pin....

Great suggestion. My '65 Evinrude 33hp SkiTwin fwd gear is skipping after replacing clutch dog, fork and forward gear....frustrating it is still slipping! Going to lossen both ends if the shift rod Connector and make sure the bolts engage the notches.

Yes, positive. It's pinned and capped with a coter pin. No way for it to slip....

I was reading through my repair manual and I am going to take apart the shift rod connector and make sure the screws are lined up with the radii of the shift rod ends. I think my lower unit shift rod my not be up as far as it should, which means the upper shift rod connection may need...

Also, what is this spring for and where does it install? When I opened the gear case it was nowhere to be found.....

    1966 33hp evinrude need advice

I have a 1965 33hp Ski-Twin and changing the clutch dog is fairly simple. Check on YouTube for a tutorial, but you need to remove the lower unit. There should be a small oval cover with two screws on the side of the shaft. Open that up and loosen the lower screw on the brass connector to allow...
