    I have a Mercury Thunderbolt 1150 (I think it is a 1972) and I have it where it idles perfectly on muffs and I can shift it into forward and reverse gear (I know this is a bad practice, and I only do it enough to barley make the prop move, only for a moment, and maybe once a season to test it)...
