    Mariner 50hp rusty metal

    Hi, I have a Mariner 50hp outboard that needed the impeller changing out. when I took the leg off there was a heap of rusty metal on top of the water pump housing it looked like it had been there for long time any ideas where it could have come from ?? Regards Ken
