    ok im guessing this retainer is keeping the shaft locked into its current location. i have the repair manual but i dont see anything that looks just like this? what tool is required for removing this, the manual shows several specialty tools and each one i search wouldnt fit this weird looking thing

    ok its mostly apart, i watched numberous videos on how to dissasemble, the pinion gear is held on by a nut, remove nut pinion gear comes off when you pull shaft out.     i did not check the gear lube for metal, the linkage is moving as it should be.

    removed cowling everything is still hooked up and moves as it should. however when you put the control arm into forward theres no resistance at all and prop freely turns by hand with no resistance
