    Swap a 1960 Evinrude to a 1961 Johnson 40hp?

    Hi, I have a 1961 Johnson 40hp (RDSL-23) with a broken engine casting(s). I also have a 1960 Evinrude 40hp (35018). Will the Evinrude bolt up to the Johnson Mid section? Also, will the Johnson electric start, ect, bolt on without a problem? Thanks, J

    1961 Johnson 40hp broken block casting(s). (RDSL-23)

    I have a new to me '61 Johnson 40hp. Turns out the top of the engine is broken... the ring around the upper bearing/seal has broken off. Can a new bearing/seal be installed, and run succesfully without this 'ring'? Also, can the johnson powerhead be swapped with a 1960 Evinrude 40hp (35018)...
