    unlisted serial number, need help

    I have a 50hp Mercury (?) outboard that needs parts but the serial number does not appear in any list I've found. Was told it's an '85. The number on the transom bracket and on what appears to be a freeze plug on the front of the engine block is A131197. Motor is 4 cyl. 2 cycle. Any help with ID...
