    Engine chokes 30mph

    I have a 97 Johnston 150hp ocean series, my mechanic of 25yrs is at a loss. He's checked everything from compression to spark, runs all day long at 28mph, when I try to go faster seems like it's choking, only hitting about 4800 rpm, boat used to run 42mph at 5500rpm, any ideas?
