    Thank you. Thermostat. Maybe that's it. Will replace it. If stuck closed, does that explain my symptoms? Pee is cold, then engine stutters and pees very hot before shutting off. Is the thermostat stuck closed and then opens when it gets crazy too hot perhaps?

    2008 Honda cooling problem

    BF9.9D. Engine runs at idle but after shifting into gear and running up RPMs a bit, engine stutters and then dies. Pee stream is cool to the touch at first, but when engine stutters, the water stream is blazing hot. Black soot-like flakes floating on water surface. Not good, but what is it?
