Honda Bf225 gear oil drain screw

Does anyone have an alternative source or detailed size and thread pitch for the gear box drain screw on a bf225? Here in the uk that little screw costs £25 + p&p which makes no sense to me (I know it’s magnetic but really)

Bf225 alternator and timing belt tension check

Hi all - I’m planning to follow the workshop manual to check and adjust the tension on both the alternator and timing belts. However I don’t understand how to apply the specified force and measure deflection of each belt to check the tension… Timing belt - apply a force of 19.6N and check...

Bf225 2002 squeal at start up

When I start my engine up from cold I get a squeal sound just like a slipping fan belt on a car. There is no fan belt obviously but a toothed timing belt. I haven’t yet taken a look under the cover. Has anyone else had this and knows what it is/how to fix it? Cheers.

BF225 overheating at idle but not at higher revs...

Just to close out this thread I have now removed and replaced the corroded oil pan. What a difference this job made to the tell tale (pisser) - before is wa a very half hearted affair - now it is firing out like a race horse! Here is a pic of replaced oil pan...

BF225 overheating at idle but not at higher revs...

Ok so I know definitely that the problem is caused by a corroded flange and grommet at the oil pan end of the water tube. I’m toying with the idea of a epoxy putty repair vs new oil pan... you can see the flange has all but disappeared so the grommet is free to move around at the end of the...

BF225 overheating at idle but not at higher revs...

Took the boat out today for the first time since the virus lockdown opened up. Over winter I’ve replaced plugs, low pressure fuel filter and external fuel filter, drained VST but not changed HP filter, fitted new impeller and housing and had lower unit rebuilt and pressure tested at a local...

    BF225 sparkplug rethreading

I pulled a plug today which was seized. Tried to soak it in plusgas penetrating oil to free it up, but still pulled a bit of the alloy thread material with it... the plug hole is too deep in the head for me to tell how bad it is... so what I’m thinking of doing but I’d really like a second...

    Milky gear oil...

I’ve bought a bf225 2002 recently and have started going through the service items. I’m not that experienced with working on boat motors so when I drained the gear oil and it looked like single cream I don’t know how much to worry (see pic) I’m assuming it’s white due to water ingress but I...

    BF225 VST operation

New to this forum and my 2004 BF225 so sorry if this is a bit of a basic question... I can’t find anywhere that explains in detail how the VST works. I think I understand the basics: low pressure/lift pump feed to VST with float switch feedback, High pressure feed to fuel rail, pressure...
