    Snug harness and an extra pair of hands did the trick. Tough on the shoulders, but motor started nicely on a couple of attempts. Onto water next week-end. Thank you all for your replies and tips, it helped me with the confidence to push on harder. Best!!

    Racerone - Thanks!! I was affraid it may have to go to that. Will I need that just to go through run-in period of the motor? Meaning will the situation improve eventually to return to “normal” with the pull-start? This will help me decide whether to invest in a basic start kit for a few starts...

    Many thanks Boscoe - i have a 4-stroke mercury and it is much smoother to pull on. Also had a 15hp Yamaha 2 strokes before and never had that problem even when new. I thought this might be the result of prolonged storage or manufacturing issue. hence it got me concerned. I will check online for...

    Hi - I have a brand new Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke. It ‘s been stored in its box for 10 year (while I moved overseas). Never seen a drop of fuel, never been out on water. Extremely hard to pull the start cord. Suspected a seized motor, removed spark plugs, WD40 and oil in cylinders, motor turns...
