    After further testing it was the stator. The wires on the cdi box were pinched. Put the new stator on and the old cdi, running like a charm. Thanks for the input.

    Forgot to mention that temperature/choke sensor (2 wire) insulation on wires was damaged. Soldiered splice, and covered with insulator & friction tape.
