    Need to set the idle on 1979 55hp Johnson

    I do not think there is an adjustment on the carbs themselves but I could be wrong. There is a large spring loaded screw on the linkage side but that looks like it is connected to the timing under the flywheel. I can adjust that a 1/2 turn to 2 turns and it sounds ok.     1979 55hp dies after it goes into gear.

    I have a 1979 55hp new to me this month. Starts cold fine idles fine. Manually moving the carb linkage while in muffs on the trail is very responsive.
