    1981 Mercury 3.6 HP Lower Unit Leak

    My 1981 Mercury 3.6 HP leaks gear oil out the joint between the gear housing and the drive shaft housing. The area around the water pump has gear oil. I have changed both water pump seals and always used a new gasket. Any ideas as to how the oil is getting up into this area?
