    1983 lower unit to replace 1979 lower unit 35 evinrude

    I am in the process of changing my 1979 35 Evinrude Serial no. E0002100 lower unit to a 1983 35 Evinrude Serial no. E0235213 lower unit my question is. The only difference I see is the shift rod, are the shift rods interchangeable?
