Just another update, replaced the coiles, wires, and a loose gas fitting on the tank. Runs a little better, ran it up and down the lake for an hour and then had a heck of a time getting it restarted. So I was thinking, gas and spark, gas and spark. I've already relaced the entire fuel system end...
Thanks, I attached it to the airbox. Not sure why it was blocked off. I rebuilt the carbs, put on the old fuel pump, and replaced the ingition trigger. Now it's idling and going into gear without stalling in a bucket, which is a major improvement. Still running rough though, and hard to get...
Any idea where this hose is supposed to go to? When I got this motor the hose was plugged but I am wondering if it should go to that fitting on the back of the intake manifold.
The only thing I have not removed and cleaned is this plug on the left, but I did spray some carb cleaner down that chute to the right of it. I will save that for the fourth time I clean these carbs.
Yes, I have them off now while I wait for the ignition sensor. They looked clear but I re-cleaned them just in case. I dont have a screwdriver that fits but I gently ran some wire through the screw plug and the two holes behind the top plug. I do have a screwdriver that fits the to screw plug...
Yes I've checked those and then some. Primer bulb is firm and I tried squeezing it while the engine was running rough. Did not help. This part passed the ohm test but it looks old and damaged, like the flywheel was scraping into it. I don't have high hopes that it will fix the issue but I wanted...
Thank, I did do the impellor. Three of the four bolts broke off but I was able to get them out with some heat, PB and vice grips. Then the impeller was stuck on the drive shaft, so I got that off with a dremel and chisel. Put it all back together and it all is good. I also rebuilt the carbs...
Just an update, I replaced the power pack and that restored spark. I also found that the power pack that was on there was the wrong one. It was for the 10-15 HP motor which probably explains why it failed. Unfortunately after an hour on the lake it overheated, which I have created another thread...
Hello,
I've been battling a rough idle condition where it will run just fine of muffs but stall at idle on the water, which eventually turned into not running at all with no spark. I replaced the power coil and power pack, and that got it running again on the muffs. Put it back in the water and...
I received the new charge coil and tested it using my multimeter. It got the same OL reading, and it turns out the problem is I don't know how to use a multimeter. Once I got the multimeter set up and testing right, the new charge coil has the correct ohms and the old one is about 20 ohms low...
