    If you pick at it, it comes right off. Its a bit more sticky around the bottom spark plugs. Faztbullet, you figure those plug wires may need to be replaced? I can't figure out what someone was doing here.

    25HP Mercury BigFoot 2001 overheating even after replacing impeller with kit and removing thermostat

    We ended up removing removing head and lower unit, found a gasket that was almost completed crusted up from age. Replaced this and it's running much better.

    1979 100HP 2 stroke has black tar around spark plugs. It seems to run ok but is getting a bit sluggish. Did a previous owner have the spark plugs loose? Or what do you think caused this?

    Hi everyone! I could really use some help here, I've got a 2001 Mercury Bigfoot, 25hp 4 stroke that's overheating after 3ish minutes if I run above an idle. It's running on a fairly shallow sandy river. Removed and replaced thermostat, no change, still overheats. Ran the motor with thermostat...
