    Well I swapped the red/blue wires with the red-w/blue-w wires and the problem moved to the port side, so as you suggest the stator is bad. But I'm a little confused, I came across some info that said if you remove the two yellow wires from the rectifier and all cylinders fire like they should...

    I have a 1985 Mercury Black Max 150 V6. I started it up this spring to find out that the starboard side is not firing. I unhooked the two yellow wires on the rectifier and started it up and they worked so I thought it was a bad rectifier. I replaced it and it didn't help. thought I got a bad one...

    What should be WOT rpm on 85 Mercury Black Max 150? I just had my boat out and it is running good. Had it at WOT and the rmp's were just over 6000. I think that is high. I'm trying to find video's on but can't find any. If I have to adjust it how do I do it?

    I did a compression test on my 85 Merc BM 150 V6. All the cylinders are 70 psi. My question is, Is that a normal reading for this motor or is it to low? What would be the next thing to check out to get the psi higher? Thanks

    What does it hook up to? It's hooked up to the gear housing but the other end is not hooked up to anything.
