    perkins diesel wont change gear

    Hi all need help, i have a 24foot boat with a perkins 4 cylinder diesel engine ive just changed the starter, but now it wont change gear, the prop shaft turns anti clock wise and when i try to change gear the prop shaft just speeds up or slows down in the same direction, anyone got any ideas...
