    15hp 1996' 2stroke Merc outboard- reverse lock won't catch/hold

    ok, just got my shifting problem fixed and is shifting fine however- when i put it in reverse the motor jerks up out of the water...so, checked reverse lock- have tried it in both lock and unlock (just to be sure) positions, have unscrewed the little mechanism, taken off and looked at -looks ok-...

    15hp 1996 Mercury won't shift into drive or reverse

    Hi- this is my 1st post- I've read other posts here that really helped! I have a 1996 15 hp Merc/Mariner outboard 2 stroke that I had to drop the lower unit (found a really helpful link here from May that was a big help) to replace the impeller. Boat is running good-impeller is working good...
